I'm Too Busy!

Take a moment to find an area of interest and get involved.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”- Colossians 3:16

What a busy life we all have with our jobs, spouses, and kids.  Oh, I almost forgot about church, what was I thinking?  Well, that is exactly the point.  I get so busy with the hustle and bustle of everyday life that I forget that more than just attending church on Sunday; I have some other obligations to fulfill to achieve spiritual growth.

Spiritual growth to me is always seeking to know and do God's will.  I know many who think (and I was one), "how can I know God's will?"  I started this writing with a scripture that is a very good beginning to "know and do God's will".  St. Paul writes over and over that we are to be together and teach each other as Christians and have gratitude for the Mercy and Grace given to us by Christ.

Gratitude: The quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful.  That is the official definition, but I like to think of gratitude as a verb.  If I am truly grateful, I will do something that indicates to those around me, that, I am indeed grateful.  No words can tell of gratitude as well as an action.

I have written this to challenge each one of us to pick at least one event, group, committee, service position, from altar care to yard work in our church and volunteer one hour per week.  That one hour could be before or after church if other days are not available.  If each one of us could do this, the adage “many hands make the work light” (or something like that) we would be showing not only each other that we are grateful, but the community at large would know we are Christians by our Love.

God Bless each one of you!

Respectfully Submitted,
