Luke 3:21-22 am Pleased with You!
More than half of sons today have had poor relationships with their
fathers. Half do not live with their biological fathers through age
18. Even more do not feel affirmed by their fathers as men and as
sons. It is one of the tragedies of our age and a major factor in
crime, family breakup, homosexuality, depression and suicide.
God shows us the perfect example of a father and a son. Luke 3:21-22
(ESV) says, “Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus
also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, and
the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a
voice came from heaven [the Father said], ‘You are my beloved Son;
with you I am well pleased.’"
We can learn much from the relationship between the Father and the
Son. The Father loves the Son. He is pleased with the Son and says
so. The Son prepares for the mission to save sinners. There is
affirmation, the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon the Son. There is
communication and oneness through prayer.
We lack God’s perfection, but we do have access to His grace. If
your father is still living, work in the power of the Holy Spirit to
reconcile, to forgive him and to seek forgiveness for yourself. If
your father is deceased, go to your Father in heaven and pray for
reconciliation and peace in your heart in Jesus’ name. If you have
been a disobedient child (and who wasn’t been?), ask for forgiveness.
If you are a father, seek Biblical advice on raising your family and
show your children the right pathway to walk and give them love and
affirmation.
The love of the Father and the obedience of the Son have opened the
doors to love, grace, forgiveness, peace and reconciliation for you.
Receive the gracious gift of forgiveness and righteousness through
faith in Jesus Christ by the blood of His cross. Hear the words of
the Father for you right now, “With you I am well pleased!” Amen.
